Teacher Training
Located in Montreal, the Institut international des langues Marguerite-Bourgeoys offers a variety of resource activities for learning and teaching English or French as a second or foreign language.
We offer teachers from around the world a total English or French cultural immersion experience with a pedagogical component.

Course Description
Communicative Approach
- Learn about the theoretical framework underlying the Communicative Approach as modeled by teachers. Participate actively in activities designed to elicit interaction within the group.
Teaching Strategies
- Study the various teaching strategies. Talk about your teaching techniques and share some of your own classroom strategies.
Presenting and using teaching materials
- Experiment with a variety of published ESL/EFL materials that target the four communication skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking) and receive training in how to produce your own classroom materials.
Planning and applying a communicative activity
- Learn different communicative activity models such as role playing, interviews, surveys, games and pair and group work. You will also plan and apply a communicative activity with your colleagues.
Integrating technologies
- Acquaint yourself with new software designed to enhance language teaching and language learning.
Professional situations and exchanges
- Meet with ESL/EFL teachers as well as other staff members in order to share information and exchange teaching tips and experiences.
Pronunciation workshops
- Improve your pronunciation skills at both the word and the sentence level.
Conversation and culture
- Enjoy interacting in the target language with native speakers in pairs, or small groups. Discover a unique cultural immersion experience.
